Snoozin' Football Fans....

Sunday ~ December 11, 2011
Sunday's at the Johnson house are football filled.  Dad usually will come down at 10:30 ~ between the three of us we have breakfast fixed and ready to eat by 11:00. Just in time for Sunday football! After breakfast we would all head downstairs and depending when the Cowboys "kick off" we would watch the game or Red Zone. Mom will usually come down at 5:30 so we can all eat dinner together and then play games after. Today the Cowboys don't kick off until 6:00pm... so the boys thought they could catch a little nap before game time.  I love Sunday's at our house!

Monday Night Football ~ Cowboy Style...

Can you say "Are You Ready For Some Football" and it looks like all my rowdy friends have come over! Josh's play-off game was at 7pm... and if they won the championship game would be at 9pm. The Cowboys game started at 6:15... what do die-hard fans do with this dilemma?  We DVR'd the game... went to the softball diamond (all the while hoping that we didn't win the game so we could go home and watch the Cowboys... as it turns out after wishing we'd lose...the championship game would be the following week!).  We raced home... Josh jumped in the shower and dad ~ Kendra and I made the garlic bread and warmed up the spaghetti and headed for the basement to watch the game.  I'm sure my mom would have freaked to see us carrying dinner down the stairs... but a die hard fan has to do... what a die-hard fan has to do and luckily no one spilled on the carpet and the best thing... the our boys whooped on the Redskins!

Christmas Day 2010...

Do we look like a Dallas Cowboy family to you?

Mom, dad and Aunt Peggy were able to come and spend the afternoon and evening with us...we started it off with dinner and then all fled to the basement to watch our beloved Cowboys take on the Cardinals... we thought this would be a win... it was a good game... right down to the end.  Josh, dad and I always wear our jerseys... so Josh pulled out his Marion Barber for Aunt Peggy and Dez Bryant for mom. Aunt Peggy was such a trooper.. she was cheering and getting into the game just like we were... she even took the heat when she (Marion) took off the helmet and cost us a huge penalty!  Thanks mom and Aunt Peggy for letting us watch our boys on Christmas! We thought it might be fun to take some pictures with our Cowboy attire!

Christmas Decorations...

Josh put up the "loopty loops" (that's a Johnson term for sure) and dug out the old trees from under the deck... we haven't used them in 7 years! I never would have thought they would have still worked... but they were beautiful.  My dad made these out of cages and strung green lights on them... they looked really cool with the deer I used to have... the green had come off of the bulbs... other than that... they worked like a charm!  We also decided to see just how "white trash" we could be this year with the old Santa and his Harley blow up decoration.  It worked... not our "normal" style... our choice would have been Dez (our new favorite Dallas Cowboy guy) riding on a large football... maybe next year!

Cowboy Christmas Tree...

Maybe not THIS year...
 Ice cube ornament...
Troy Aikman... check out those blue eyes!
 Tony Romo... love his dimples...
Josh's Precious Moments bulb... his first one!
Silver star...
Emmett... I miss watching him play!
3 Stars... I love the number 3

Here is the 2010 Dallas Cowboy tree.
I have given Josh a new ornament every year since he was a little.

Scrappin' Blogs...

Here is a shout out to Scrappin' Blogs... they ROCK! My blog was pretty much Cowboy'd Up... but a Cowboy background would be the cherry on top! Since I'm a dummy when it comes to that kind of "blog stuff" I figured there was no way I would ever get my Cowboy background. Scrappin' Blogs to the rescue! They had some cute football backgrounds they had created... BYU - U of U - Titans - Colts... and I left them a message asking if there was any way I could request a Dallas Cowboy background... a few hours later I had an e-mail back... Ask and you shall receive! They had two Cowboy backgrounds for me to choose from!  I have to admit... I was at work and I stood up on my desk and did the happy dance... (okay so I didn't do it on my desk... but behind it I did)!  I had to change it right then and there!  Check them out... http://scrappinblogs.blogspot.com/  they have awesome backgrounds... something for everyone ... and every occasion! Thank you Elaine - Kristy and Tycie... you three ROCK!

Family Pics

I bought a wood frame with 4 slots for pictures over a year ago... I just hung it on the wall and kept thinking someday we will get some pictures to put in it... Josh was the master mind and got us together... finally... for some pictures.  Kendra was good enough to come and take them for us!  We went to an old abandoned building here in town, I never thought you could have 5 different looks from one location... pretty sweet! I love the pics with the Cowboy-ware ...
I think we are ready for some football!
GO COWBOYS!

Poor Romo...

Poor Romo... he was either in the backfield scrambling for his life...
or laying flat as a pancake on his back...
(breakfast is sounding really good about now)
Where was the offensive line? Actually... where were the Cowboys?
It was not a sad day for the three of us (me - Josh and dad)
we just wished that we had shown up and given
the Vikings a run for their money.

Great year "boys"... we have a team to keep building with
and come back in 2010 with another division championship
and more playoff games... and hey...
isn't the Superbowl in Texas Stadium next year...?
That would be sweet... home field advantage Cowboys!

Cowboy Treats...

It's become tradition that I make "star" shaped treats before the
Cowboy games. Usually Josh is the "decorator extraordinaire"
he did the first batch but then got busy cleaning his car...
so I had to finish.  Just in time for a
for half-time treat-time for the die hard Cowboy fans.

I may not be the worlds best cook...
but at least my family loves my Rice Krispie treats.
Josh wanted this picture taken so that he can show
his grandkids (someday) that their Great-Grandmother
did "bake"... Thanks Josh!

Looks like next weekend will have another batch of treats!
Go Cowboys... You Rock!

Josh's Cowboy Star

December 26, 1995 - Joshua 8 Years Old
Josh had asked if the Cowboys made it to the playoffs would I let him get a "star" cut into his hair... It was pretty funny... my dad was fit to be tied and said that no grandson of his would look like that! I kept telling him... it won't be that big of a deal... and it will grow out fast. The Cowboys played a Christmas Day game that put them into the playoffs. The funny thing is the next morning I received a phone call at work from by dad asking if Josh needed a haircut (my dad used to take him to Al with him... Josh was pretty fussy about his hair at 8... geeze) and then said... Al said "he can cut a star into his hair if you want him to"... Surprise... surprise... the other funny thing was... my dad kept trimming out the center of the star until after the Cowboys won the Super Bowl!
December 11, 2009 - Joshua 22 Years Old
Your star is awesome! How far will we go this year?

Being the ultimate Cowboy fan... Josh decided that the "boys" needed some help with their December "loss record" (for the past several years... the Cowboys loose the majority of their December games). It was time for a hair cut and he asked Al if he would put another star in his hair...
